1. La Bodega Negra – Soho, London

Enter this bar through a sex shop, welcomed by a gimp in PVC; a knowing and kitsch nod to Soho’s seedy history. Blacked out lightbulbs and booming bass lines add to the club feel and heightened atmosphere of this dingy little dive. Stocked to the rafters with the best tequila on the planet – Herradura Seleccion Suprema, Ocho, Tapatio. The hibiscus margaritas are our personal favourite…and if it’s good enough for Mick Jagger…

2. Boca Chica – Barcelona, Spain

The best cocktail bar in Barcelona, and indeed in our top 5 in the world…Boca Chica has the accolades to prove it! Best G & T Bartender, Best Healthy Mediterranean Cocktail and Best Cocktail Pairing Chef. With an idyllic setting in the heart of Barcelona’s L’Eixample district and designed by the famous Lazaro Rosa-Violan. This stunning setting and the Boss of Boca Chica – with Zacapa Royal rum, fresh pineapple, maraschino liqueur, lime juice and champagne makes for an eccentric and elegant imbibing experience.

3.PDT – New York, USA

Standing for Please Don’t Tell; this quirky Speakeasy style cocktail lounge is attached to an East Village hot dog joint, with entrance gained through a vintage telephone box. Truly incredible classic and seasonal cocktails – our personal favourite is their Old Fashioned, all concocted by the famous mixologist Jim Meehan.

4. Shoreditch House – Shoreditch, London

Set in a converted former tea warehouse in the heart of East London (could you get a more British setting?!) This exclusive private members club has jaw-dropping views of the city; the epitome of urban chic. We are particularly partial to their Soho Negroni… with Bombay Saphire, Suze and Martini Bianco. It’s a London thing.

5. Paradise Lost – Ibiza, Spain

The namesake of Milton’s poem – with their vast array of rum cocktails in this wonderfully eccentric little den in Ibiza Old Town, there’s even more temptation than the Garden of Eden. The neon light that beams over the leather chesterfields proudly proclaims ‘What hath night to do with sleep’…and just one of their Espresso Martinis will guarantee you won’t want for it!
